9:30 am-10:00 am	Children's Story Time Cole Library Cole Library hosts a preschool story time every Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. Cathy Boggs uses a weekly theme that ties together stories, songs and finger plays. Story hour lasts 30 minutes and is located in the Children's Room on first floor.
11:10 am-12:00 pm	HAIG lecture The Commons Russian professor Lynne Ikach presents sabbatical research on diaries as a genre and examined the diaries two teenage girls kept during Stalinist purges of the 1930s. The study was later expanded to include several diaries written by women during the 900-day blockade of Leningrad during World War II. These translate horrific and nearly incomprehensible events into personal terms. Ikach describes how the research intersects with her teaching, and stylistic elements of the works.
11:15 am-12:00 pm	Faculty and Staff Reception for athletic director candidate The Commons Meet Larry Lee, candidate for the position of Athletic Director
11:15 am-12:30 pm	Faculty and Staff (No) Talent Show and Bake Sale The Commons Come to the OC to watch your favorite faculty and staff show off their amazing talents (or not so amazing). Also purchase tasty baked items that have been donated by over 20 different faculty and staff members across campus.
3:15 pm-5:00 pm	Fellowship and Bible Study The Commons St. Paul Lutheran Church sponsored Bible study. Meets in Beijing, The Commons every Thursday except block breaks.

3:15 pm	Civic Engagement Candidate Presentation The Commons Kara Trebil, candidate for the Coordinator of Civic Engagement position will be making a presentation related to her philosophy of Civic Engagement on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 3:15 p.m. in Hedges. All faculty, students, and staff are invited to attend
5:00 pm-6:00 pm	IM dance mix Small Multi-Sport Center
5:00 pm	RSVP deadline for Dimensions trip to Chicago for Heat Wave Chicago Join Sociology and Dimensions students on a day trip to Chicago on SUNDAY, MARCH 16 for a performance of the play Heat Wave, which addresses the social context and consequences of the 1995 tragedy that took the lives of over 700 individuals. Leave on Sunday at 9:30 AM and return late Sunday night. Sponsored by Dimensions. Spaces limited. Contact Tori Barnes-Brus by 5 PM on Thursday if interested. This event is open to students, faculty, and staff.
5:30 pm-7:00 pm	Tea Party The Commons Stop by the OC this Thursday to have a hot cup of tea. Sponsored by Eyes Of The World
5:30 pm	Spanish Conversation Dinner The Commons Want to practice your Spanish? Join other Spanish-speakers for an informal dinner and conversation! Bring take-out if you'd like and meet at the round table in the Ratt.
6:00 pm	How To Handle Money Law Hall Learn from a local accountant how to file your taxes this year and in the future. Speak with a representative from Iowa Student Loan about budgeting and finding ways to financially stay on track. Come join us for this exclusive event and get started on your taxes and budget then and there!
7:00 pm-8:45 pm	Fellowship and Bible Study The Commons St. Paul Lutheran Church sponsored Bible study. Meets every Thursday in Beijing, The Commons except block breaks.
