Presented by James Martin, Ph.D. Mozart's operatic masterpiece, "Don Giovanni," is surely on everyone's list as not only one of the greatest operas ever written, but as one of the greatest works in western art as well. Called “drama giocoso” by Mozart, it denotes a mix of serious and comic action, blending comedy, melodrama and supernatural elements. Join us as we examine it from a musical perspective, and at other times focus upon the mixture of music and theatre/text. CD listening, video viewing, and lively discussions are promised. This course continues Nov. 16. Open to adults of all ages. Cost of the four-week program is $30.
