As we approach the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth on Feb. 12, 2009, this course explores the questions: How did the 51-year-old get the presidential nomination of the Republican Party? What did he do with the first fifty years of his life? Why do historians rank him as one of our best presidents? This course continues Feb. 23. Open to adults of all ages. Cost of the four week program is $30. |

This exhibit displays just a few of his amazing accomplishments. Sponsored by the African-American Museum and Cultural Center of Cedar Rapids Iowa, Cole Library, and Cornell's Office of Intercultural Life. Tyla Cole, Eastern Iowa Coordinator, African-American Museum of Iowa, will be present to answer questions. |

In every workshop we’ll read and focus on one contemporary short story, poem, or essay. The goal of each session will be to uncover the craft that each writer puts into his/her work with the hope of learning something that can be used in your own creative writing. Up for discussion: Tobias Wolff’s short story, “Bullet in the Brain.” Copies will be provided. |
