| Description: | John Murray, a global health care expert, will give a talk titled "9 Million Child Deaths: Where, Why and What Can Be Done." Murray, a physician by training, has worked on the design and implementation of primary health care programs in 15 countries in Asia and Africa. He has served as a consultant to the World Health Organization, focusing his work on maternal and child health. His visit is in connection with the reading group discussion of Tracy Kidder's "Mountains Beyond Mountains," sponsored by Dimensions and the Berry Center. Murray received a medical degree in his native Australia and a graduate degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University. In addition to working as an international health consultant, Murray is a successful writer whose fiction has received international recognition. |
