 Even though it seems exciting to study famous battles and their outcomes,
  it is even more important to study the issues surrounding troop movement
 s and strength, the assignment of officers, the attempts at peace, and th
 e making of treaties. Who were the lobbyists? What was the role of newspa
 pers, authors, interpreters, state legislators, and activists? What was t
 he role of statehood movements? This course will specifically look at the
  diplomacy surrounding Red Cloud and Spotted Tail--two great and competin
 g Lakota warriors, leaders, and politicians. Continues Oct. 22. Cost of t
