Lenny Gannes, assistant professor of biology, will give a lecture titled "The Future of the California Condor." The California Condor dropped to less than 20 individuals and nearly went extinct in the 1980s. In one of the first attempts at captive breeding anywhere in the world, the California Condor was brought back from the brink of extinction. But is the California Condor a model for saving other endangered species? In this presentation Professor Gannes will investigate the biological and socio-political contexts of the California Condor recovery.
