5:00 pm-8:00 pmSlick Shoes Faculty and Staff Fundraiser Hall-Perrine Room of Thomas Commons
We are raising funds to bring Cornell Alumni (and former Slick Shoes members), Austin Neverman '12 and Kali Henson '13, to campus to teach some swing dancing workshops during this school year. We are attempting to raise enough money to provide for their transportation, stay, food, and their workshop fees. We are hoping to use both this event, and the future workshop event, to bring the Cornell community together, have some fun, and to learn something new. All Cornell faculty and staff, and any friends or family one would like to bring, are invited to this event. We are hoping to provide a fun and secure environment to anyone who is interested in learning how to dance, or simple wish to decompress after First Week. Donations are optional, thus you are not required to give a donation to participate in the event (though we would be very appreciative if you do). We will be accepting cash donations of any amount, and there will be a donation drop box. The schedule for the night is the following: Friday, November 3rd. Hall Perrine. 5 - 8 pm. 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm : Salsa Lesson 5:45 pm - 6:00 pm: Free Dance 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm: Waltz lesson 6:45 pm - 7:00 pm: Free Dance 7:00 pm - 7:45 pm: Swing Lesson 7:45 pm - 8:00 pm: Free Dance Each lesson will be lead by two student instructors, and there will be another four students available for assistance (instructor assistance, participant assistance, teaching/watching any children who come with faculty or staff, etc.). Proceeding the lesson, there will be a 15 minute break where there will be music playing. You are welcome to arrive to the event at any time, for as long or as little as you would like. Arriving at the start of a lesson is ideal, though everyone is welcome to attend at any point during the event. There will be water and cookies available during the event. It is also recommended you wear shoes your are comfortable dancing in. If any questions come up, feel free to e-mail BQuimby19! We hope to see you all there!
