Positive Exposure: Celebrating the Beauty of Human Diversity (link)
|Date:||Thursday, February 7th|
|Time:||6:30 pm-8:00 pm|
Insults, fear, discrimination and hatred based on genetic, physical, and behavioral differences plague our society. Award-winning, former fashion photographer Rick Guidotti challenges the stigma associated with difference by celebrating the beauty of human diversity. He offers a fresh perspective on how to best meet the needs of individuals and families with, or at risk for, genetic disorders. Through positive images and powerful life stories, this event will help us see individuals living with a genetic difference first and foremost as a human being with his/her own challenges rather than as a specific diagnosis/disease entity. Dimensions will provide transportation to the "Positive Exposure" display at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Please contact Julie Barnes, x4350, to make a van reservation.
