Dr. Lynne Stempien is a pediatric rehabilitation doctor/physiatrist who also has experience in insurance medicine. Her work experience includes 12 years as assistant medical director of the Denver Children's Hospital rehabilitation department, associate professor of rehabilitation at the University of Colorado, and 10 years as medical director for Active Health Management. She has treated children with a wide range of congenital and acquired disabilities, such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, amputations, and neurologic and orthopedic disorders. Her insurance industry experience includes precertification reviews, disability evaluations, and medicolegal consulting. Stempien's daughter, Caryn Shebowich, is a sophomore at Cornell. Stempien will discuss her career and offer mentoring/guidance to current health science students.
