| 3:30 pm May 16th | Megan Dibbern Honors Thesis Defense West SciencePlease join us for Megan Dibbern's thesis defense, titled "Spreading Depression Preferentially Increases Oxidative Stress in Microglia and Astrocytes: Implications for the Chronification of Migraine." In 2011, Dibbern completed both a summer and a fourth block placement with Dr. Richard Kraig '78, a professor in the departments of neurology and neurobiology, pharmacology and physiology at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dimensions annually supports the placement of a Cornell student in Dr. Kraig's lab. Your attendance is a great way to support Megan, learn about this summer 2013 research opportunity and learn about the process involved in order to graduate with distinction with a BMB major. |
| 11:30 am May 19th | Thomas Commons groundbreaking Thomas CommonsCornell College will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Thomas Commons renovation and expansion. The building's new name is in recognition of a leadership gift from Cornell's most generous philanthropists, trustee Richard Small '50 and honorary alumna and trustee Norma Thomas Small. The building has been re-named in honor of Norma's parents. The ceremony, which marks the beginning of the $14 million renovation of the hub of student life on campus, will include words of gratitude to the donors and short speeches by students, trustees and administrators about the importance of the Thomas Commons to student life. All students in attendance are encouraged to join President Brand, John Harp, and the Smalls for a ceremonial groundbreaking photo. |
| 8:00 pm May 26th | End-of-the-Year Dance Thomas CommonsLearn some sweet moves and rock out to live music by Cornell's very own Jazz Combo. Lessons will be given from 8-8:45 p.m., with the dance from 8:45-11 p.m. Food will be provided. |
