Cornell hosts its final Music Mondays concert of the year, featuring Boris Andrianov on the cello and Alex Kobrin on the piano. The duo will perform Beethoven’s Cello Sonata no. 4 in C major, Shostakovich’s Sonata for cello and piano in D minor and Britten’s Cello Sonata in C, as well as Schumann’s “Fantasiestucke” and Sollima’s “Lamentatio.” Andrianov has participated in many international festivals including Colmar, Dubrovnik and Rheingau; performed in Tokyo Opera City, Tokyo Suntory Hall and the Vienna Konzerthaus. His CD of Rachmaninov and Shostakovich sonatas with pianist Uri Urasin on the Quartz label received the Gramophone’s “Editor’s Choice” award. Kobrin is the winner of numerous international piano competitions—notably the gold medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He has collaborated with many major orchestras such as New York Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Verdi, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Moscow Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and the Dallas Symphony. General admission is $10 ($5 for students) at the door. Free to Cornell students, faculty, staff, emeriti faculty, and retired staff, and to Purple Pass holders.
