|Date:||Saturday, February 18th|
Nationally renowned political comedy group Capitol Steps will appear at Cornell College. General admission is $10 at the door. Admission is free for Cornell students with college ID, Cornell faculty, staff, emeriti faculty, retired staff and their families, and to holders of the Purple Pass. Advance tickets are available at the Info Desk in the Thomas Commons starting Nov. 28. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. There will be no assigned seating. The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. Since forming in 1981, the Capitol Steps have recorded more than 30 albums, including their latest, “Desperate Housemembers” and their special holiday release, “Barackin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” They’ve been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their “Politics Takes a Holiday” radio specials. Capitol Steps is part of the annual series of performances and lectures funded by a gift from alumnus Richard Williams ’63 and his wife, Marlene. The series sponsors performances that inspire students to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others. The Capitol Steps first performed as a Williams Fund event in 2008. Other previous performers include Rockapella, Second City, and the Paper Clips Project.
