The Cole Library and Center for Teaching & Learning is presenting a day of faculty technology workshops. The sessions will focus on the technical how-to of different technologies and provide examples of assignments for which they can be used. These examples will include how colleagues on campus use these tools, as well as how they are used across higher education. We will also take a close look at the new version of Moodle, which is more user-friendly and offers new features. You can attend any number of sessions during the day. Walk-ins are welcome. All attendees will receive a free 4 Gig USB flash drive preloaded with instructional technology resources. Sessions are: Google Docs 10-10:30 a.m., how to access Google Docs and how to create, organize and share different types of files; how Docs can be used in class for group work, peer review, and simple polling; Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and how these documents affect your Docs account, as well as the migration from Google Docs to Google Drive. Clickers 10:45-11:45 a.m., how to create an interactive slideshow using TurningPoint and how to track student participation and responses. Moodle Basic 1-1:30 p.m., what's new in the updated version of Moodle, including options for embedding video; how to upload a syllabus and other documents in the new system; how to migrate content from old courses to new courses; and how to create a simple dropbox assignment for students to upload papers. Moodle Advanced 2-3 p.m., how to create forums and discuss assignments; Wikis, Quizzes, and polling options within Moodle; and gradebook functionality.
