Time: 12:00 pm

Cornell LEADS: Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Distinctive Service. What does it take to be a leader? Why is leadership important to progress in communities and organizations? How can today's students become tomorrow's leaders? What can students learn from the experiences of established leaders? A select group of 20 students will have the extraordinary opportunity to cultivate their aspirations for leadership by participating in a distinctive year-long experience. The Cornell leadership series, sponsored by the Berry Center, will consist of three components: a leadership seminar led by President Emeritus Les Garner (Monday, October 29, 3:15pm); panel discussion with three leaders from the Eastern Iowa community (winter 2013); and a visit to Chicago, IL to meet with leaders in a variety fields, from business and politics, to the arts and entertainment (April 10-12, 2013). Please attend this informational meeting to learn more about the Cornell LEADS program. Students will be selected for this leadership experience on a competitive basis. Seniors, juniors, and sophomores from all departments and disciplines are invited to apply, unless you have previously participated in the LEADS program. Preference is given to candidates who have attended the informational meeting. Applications will be due Tuesday, October 2, at Noon. All expenses will be paid by the Berry Center.
