Please join us for a special convocation honoring alumni. The Distinguished Achievement Award will be presented to John Smith '71 for his leadership in flood recovery in Cedar Rapids; the Leadership and Service Award will be awarded to Phil Sieff '82, Gail Cummings Andersen '87, and Maureen Johnson '87 for their many years of service to the college and their communities; and the Young Alumni Achievement Award will be presented to Tahllee Baynard '97. Note: We regret to report that the King Chapel chair lift is not functional. For those who are unable to climb the stairs, a live feed of Homecoming Convocation will be shown in Law Hall, Room 103.

Peter Thomas, author of "More Making Books by Hand," will lead workshop participants in choosing the materials and using the tools required to make both accordion and case bound (hardback) books. Five workshop spots are open for campus participants. From 1-4:30 p.m., Donna Thomas will provide tours of the Gypsy Wagon Bookmobile from which the artists sell their own handmade books. The Gypsy Wagon Bookmobile will be located in the West Science circle.

Featuring works by Professor Emeritus of Art Doug Hanson who retired after 41 years of teaching at Cornell. Gallery hours during Homecoming weekend: Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. A reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Regular gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Attend the dedication of Cornell's newest center, former home of English professors Winifred Van Etten '25 and Stephen Lacey '65. The dedication will be followed by an open house and reception.

Come dance the night away at the Regal Crown in Lisbon and celebrate Homecoming 2012. The event begins at 9 p.m., and shuttles to the dance hall start at 8:45 p.m. in front of Merner Hall. Semi-formal attire is highly recommended.
