|9:00 am-12:00 pm||Chautauqua T-7: "From the Page to Performance to...Possibilities-Bringing Life to the Dramatic Text" The Commons|
Presented by Jim VanValen, assistant professor of theatre. This course will examine works from the American theatre and explore the particular interpretations made by directors, actors, and designers toward bringing the playwright’s words to life in performance. The group will read plays, view excerpts from various productions, discuss responses, and take part in performing staged readings of certain scenes during each session. Plays that will be examined are: Arthur Miller’s "Death of a Salesman" (March 5), Tennessee Williams’ "A Streetcar Named Desire" (March 12), Lillian Hellman’s "The Children’s Hour" (March 19), and Thornton Wilder’s "Our Town" (March 26). This course continues March 19 and 26. Cost of the four-week program is $30. For more information call 895-4119.

Iowa Campus Compact AmeriCorps Program (ICAP) members and the CEO will kick off AmeriCorps week on the OC with information about volunteerism, AmeriCorps, and the work ICAP members have been doing this year. Plus music and games!

Cornell College is required to collect IRS form W-9 for all independent contractors or businesses that provide services to the college. In order to comply with this requirement, Business Services has implemented a policy regarding the collection of W-9s and will offer training sessions. The training will assist in understanding the form W-9 policy and the process involved in collecting W-9s. The sessions will take place on Monday, March 12, 11:30 am–noon, in the third floor conference room, Old Sem; and Thursday, March 15, 11:30 am–noon in Magee Dining Room, Thomas Commons. Faculty and staff who work with vendors that supply services to the college should plan to attend one of the sessions.

Join visiting professor from Aoyama Gakuin Women's College in Tokyo and discuss Japan's progress one year after the devastating earthquake/tsunami. Cookies and tea will be provided.
