|9:30 am||Children's Story Time Cole Library|
Cathy Boggs, public library coordinator, uses a weekly theme that ties together stories, songs, and fingerplays.
|11:10 am||One Book Convocation Kimmel Theatre|
Kathy Obear will speak in connection with Cornell's One Book program. This year the One Book selection is "The Other Wes Moore" by Wes Moore. The book tells the story of two children named Wes Moore, born just blocks apart. Both grew up fatherless in similar Baltimore neighborhoods and had difficult childhoods, yet one grew up to be a Rhodes Scholar, while the other is serving a life sentence for murder. Similar to the story of Wes Moore--not allowing to hold herself back by experience--Obear asks us to contemplate our own experiences to help us move forward in understanding ourselves and others. Obear is the president of the Alliance for Change Consulting and founding faculty of the Social Justice Training Institute. She has over 25 years experience as a trainer and organization development consultant specializing in creating inclusion, team and organizational effectiveness, conflict resolution, and change management.
