(Re)Building Community: Five Years after the Cedar Rapids Flood (link)
|Date:||Wednesday, October 9th|
|Time:||6:00 pm-8:00 pm|
On June 13, 2008 at 10:15 a.m., the Cedar River crested at more than 31 feet, impacting approximately 10 square miles of the City of Cedar Rapids. More than 18,000 people were displaced from their homes and economic losses totaled nearly 2.5 billion dollars. This program features a panel of individuals offering personal perspectives about the impact of the flood and the process of (re)building community in Cedar Rapids. Featured speakers hail from the business community, local government, the arts, the environment, and homeowners who endured the flood and its aftermath even five years later.
