What are the victims' health conditions? Come to this event on the OC to find out the answers. Donation buckets can be found in Old Sem, Cole Library, and at the Info Desk. All donations will go through the UNICEF U.S. Fund and will be used to help children who were affected by the disaster. Co-sponsored by Chaplain, Spiritual Life, the Inter-Faith Understanding and Spiritus organizations, and the Roman Catholic Community Association, Model United Nations, Health Professions Society, Knot Just For Grannies, and the Civic Engagement Office. |
11:10 am-12:00 pm | Rescheduled for Dec. 19: SIG Talk "Video Manipulation Techniques for the Protection of Privacy in Re West ScienceRoss Sowell, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, will speak on how systems that give control of a mobile robot to a remote user raise privacy concerns about what the remote user can see and do through the robot. His recent work aims to preserve some of that privacy by manipulating the video data that the remote user sees. In this talk, Sowell will discuss the effectiveness of different video manipulation techniques for ensuring different types of privacy without diminishing the task performance of the user. |
11:10 am-12:00 pm | HAIG Lecture: At Home With(out) the Tolstoys Thomas CommonsLynne Ikach, Professor of Russian, will discuss her work on the diaries of Lev and Sophia Tolstoy, and how her visits to the Tolstoy residences in Russia during her sabbatical last spring contributed to the project. The homes and diaries of the famous couple played important roles in their 48-year relationship, serving as sites of refuge and reflection as well as confrontation and conflict. |

7:00 pm-8:30 pm | Winter Poetry Slam Cornell CollegeA Slam is a competition for poets to perform their pieces. Poets will be scored on a scale of one to ten by randomly selected judges. It is a very friendly environment in which the audience may show their appreciation for a performance through snaps and encouragement. Anyone can sign up as a participant but poems must be three minutes or less. |
