“Triggered: An Evening of Dance: Cornell College’s Inaugural Dance Concert” The Cornell College Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to announce its inaugural dance concert running May 5th & 6th at 7:30 p.m. in Kimmel Theatre on the Cornell College Campus. The Department’s Dance Artist in Residence, Alvon Reed (MFA in Dance University of Iowa) has an impressive background in choreography and performance. He directs this dynamic and engaging evening featuring professional dancers, choreographers and Cornell College students. “Dance is alive and well at this college and these students are capable of anything,” says Reed. “This is a culmination of many months of work and watching their growth as individuals and as aspiring artists is an inspiration for me as a choreographer and as a teacher.” Rachel Wood, a senior Gender Studies major is featured in the production. “As a dancer I want people to walk away from TRIGGERED feeling enriched and to understand that Cornell and the eastern Iowa corridor has a vibrant arts scene”. This production she says “brings all the things that Cornell prides itself on, community and diversity, and shows it in a brand new light.” Guest Artists include; New York City’s Fernando Carrillo (Joffrey Ballet School, Alvin Ailey School, MFA candidate at the University of Iowa) and Cedar Rapids native, Lovar Davis Kid (Spoken Word Artist and Dance Educator), and Kristin Marrs (Dance Educator and Lecturer at the University of Iowa). On opening night audiences are invited to stay for a post-show reception sponsored by Mount Vernon’s own Dance Arts Iowa on Friday, May 5th immediately following the performance. There will be a cash bar provided by Bon Appetite for each performance. TRIGGERED runs two nights only, May 5th and May 6th at 7:30 p.m. in Kimmel Theatre on the Cornell College Campus. Tickets are General Admission $5 and free for Cornell College faculty, staff, and students with ID. Tickets can be reserved by calling (319) 895-4293 or emailing email@example.com.
