|9:00 am-10:00 am||Campus Currents Hall-Perrine Room of Thomas Commons|
All-Staff Meeting - Purpose:
•To share information that may be useful for engaging current students, recruiting new students, and connecting alumni and friends with the college.
•To expand lines of communication and foster collaboration across divisions.
•To offer opportunities for discussion and feedback on broader college issues.
All staff members and representatives of contracted services are encouraged to participate.
|11:00 am-1:00 pm||CEA Study Abroad Information Table Thomas Commons|
Stop by to visit Jon Jorgenson, representative from CEA Study Abroad, to discuss summer, semester, and year-long study abroad opportunities. Since 1997, CEA has maintained one simple philosophy: To provide high-quality international academic programs and services. For students and universities, that means support through each step of the study abroad experience, from start to finish. Along the way, students learn to adapt and communicate across cultures. They earn credits toward graduation while gaining skills that enhance their employability. For more information, visit ceastudyabroad.com or contact Jon directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
|11:00 am-1:00 pm||Exquisite Corpse Orange Carpet|
Join the Student Literary Arts Board on the OC on Nov. 7 from 11-1 to write a single sentence! An Exquisite Corpse is where one person starts on a giant piece of paper, and then the next person writes one sentence. The paper is continually rolled up so only one sentence is visible at a time. Also, you'll get to meet Manny Quinne.
|3:00 pm||National Novel Writing Month Time Thomas Commons|
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is November, but the Block 3 class starts before then! Join us in Thayer or Lindquist to help meet that word count! Meet us on Fridays in the Van Etten-Lacey House for Freewrite Fridays that go longer and have cinnamon rolls for additional motivation. Anyone participating in NaNoWriMo is encouraged and welcome to attend!
|7:00 pm||Wrestling at Simpson College Indianola|
|7:00 pm-9:00 pm||Writers After Dark Zamora's Market|
Writers After Dark is being hosted by SLAB (Student Literary Arts Board) for students and outside community members to come and share any poetry or short stories during our open mic night. People are free to listen and relax without having to present themselves. Come join our jazzy, evening literary event!
