11:30 am-12:30 pmGina Forsyth, Cajun fiddler Thomas Commons
New Orleans-based Gina Forsyth is an award-winning singer/songwriter who is known for her wizardry on fiddle and guitar and is considered one of the best Cajun fiddlers in Louisiana (no small feat). She will talk about Louisiana, Cajun French, and Cajun music, as well as play some music. The event will be in English.
11:30 amCANCELLED: Modern Migration to Iowa with Dr. Stella Burch Elias Orange Carpet
The Office of Intercultural Life, the African American History Museum of Iowa, and Humanities Iowa collaborate to bring Professor Stella Burch Elias of the University of Iowa Law School to discuss modern immigration, refugees, and asylees with a focus on African immigrant populations that have settled in Iowa. This event is open to the public, to the greater local community, and to the Cornell College community.

Drop by the Van Etten-Lacey House (408 3rd St SW) on Friday afternoons (Weeks 1-3, 3-6 p.m.) to write alongside others in a cozy, inspiring setting. Enjoy coffee, tea, and cinnamon rolls as you write from one of the provided prompts or work independently. Students, faculty, and staff are all welcome. KRNL will broadcast a live interview with The Melvinas, the North American Supertrio featuring Beth Cahill, Gina Forsyth, and Lisa Markley. Tune in to 89.7 FM or listen online at krnl.fm to hear some amazing music and fun interview questions! After the show, The Melvinas will be performing at the Uptown Theater at 7:30 p.m. Mention KRNL for free admission!
