World Hijab Day Observance & Discussion

Event Detail
Date: Thursday, February 1st
Time: 3:15 pm

Calling all self-identifying females: Join the global event to show support for our Muslim sisters around the world who choose to wear head cover by wearing modest clothing and a head scarf (hijab) for the day. World Hijab Day gives an opportunity to citizens unfamiliar with the Islamic faith to open up dialogues with their Muslim neighbors, co-workers, and friends. WHD focuses on fighting bigotry, discrimination, and prejudice against Muslim women. This is most crucial in these times when too many Muslim women are being targeted and harassed verbally and physically. There will be an educational booth in the Thomas Commons during lunch. All are also invited to join the discussion in Allee chapel at 3:15 p.m. For more information and to RSVP search for the Facebook event "WORLD HIJAB DAY AT CORNELL COLLEGE." ~Sponsored by the Social Justice Initiative (Offices of Chaplain & Spiritual Life, Intercultural Life, and Civic Engagement)
