RSVP by Fri. Jan 24 for this popular annual Block Break spirituality retreat (W-F Feb. 5-7) at New Melleray Abbey, a nationally known Trappist monastery nestled in the rolling hills of Eastern Iowa near Dubuque. Savor awe-filled silence, monks chanting the psalms, age-old monastic wisdom and culture, downtime we rarely have together as Cornell students, faculty, and staff, and plenty of personal time to reflect, pray, meditate, and engage in spiritual reading and writing. Vigil begins in Thomas Commons lobby, briefly sojourns to the MLK Memorial tree then into Allee Chapel for our naming and lighting candles for people past and present who have taught us courage, inclusive love, and the power of being instruments of healing peace. Join us as we commemorate the courage, love, and healing wisdom of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and other Civil Rights Movement heroes. Vigil begins in Thomas Commons lobby, briefly sojourns to the MLK Memorial tree then into Allee Chapel for our naming and lighting candles for people past and present who have taught us courage, inclusive love, and the power of being instruments of healing peace.
