INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN PUBLISHING?
Erin Casey, a 2009 graduate of both Cornell College and the Publishing Institute at the University of Denver, will be on campus on Wednesday, January 23rd at 4:00pm in Shaw Lounge in Thomas Commons to present an information session for the Publishing Institute. Erin will discuss the kinds of opportunities the publishing industry affords and the training the Publishing Institute offers. The Publishing Institute is an intensive, four-week summer program that provides a broad overview of all aspects of the publishing industry in lectures and hands-on workshops in editing and marketing. The faculty members are all professionals working in the publishing industry, and they cover topics from the role of the editor to marketing, from international publishing and markets to the work of the literary agent, from textbook to digital publishing. The 2019 Publishing Institute will run from July 14th to August 9th.

The Berry Career Institute will be taking students on a tour of several dynamic businesses in Iowa's capital of Des Moines on Thursday (Feb. 7) of Block Break 5. Students will tour and hear from representatives at Merchants Bonding Company, the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs (which includes Iowa Arts Council, Produce Iowa, and the State Historical Society of Iowa), at the Iowa State Capitol with the Iowa Senate Democrats. This is a unique opportunity to see inside a variety of work environments, discover new career paths, and make professional connections. Transportation and lunch will be provided and the day will last from 7:30 a.m-6 p.m. All majors and class years are welcome to apply. Lecture "Leadership: Bridging Failure and Success"
Please join the Berry Career Institute and the Beta Omicron Distinguished Alumni Visitor program in welcoming Ted Enberg '11 back to campus. Ted is the play-by-play announcer for Stanford University football and makes appearances on MLB-TV and ESPN. Ted is also the host of the "Sounds of Success" podcast, which was started by his late father and legendary sports broadcaster Dick Enberg.
During his talk titled "Leadership: Bridging Failure and Success", Ted will share stories and wisdom about leadership development, working in professional sports management, leading a global career on multiple continents and the value of a liberal arts education.
